Out Front Colorado's 35th anniversary issue.

Out Front Colorado, the state’s largest and oldest LGBT news organization, has been sold to Transformation Communication Group.

Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

It is anticipated TCG will take control of the business Jan. 23.

The late Phil Price founded the organization more than 35 years ago. The first issue of OFC hit the streets April 2, 1976.

“We are beyond thrilled about this acquisition,” said Jerry Cunningham, president and CEO of TCG. “Our commitment is to continue the operation with the same integrity, local focus, and quality expressed in the credo that appeared in the very first edition of OFC.

“In the coming weeks and months we will strategically evolve and expand the news organization into a complete multimedia company,” Cunningham said.

Out going publisher and editor-in-chief Greg Montoya said he was excited for the new chapter OFC will write in 2012 and beyond.

“We have had such an amazing run with Out Front and developed such a profound responsibility to the GLBT community over the past few decades,” Montoya said.

The first print publication of OFC under new ownership will hit newsstands Feb. 1.
