From one of the producers of Climax at Vinyl comes a new type of party in the Mile High City. One with a lot of testosterone. DJ Tatiana Feigenblatt will launch PornStar Second Fridays at Bar Standard on 11.11.11 and its sure to be a hard-on good time.
Featuring the sexiest DJs, bartenders – and yes, porn stars – PornStar Second Fridays brings together some of the most scandalous suspects.
“PornStar Second Fridays is indeed designed with the gay men in mind,” Feigenblatt said. “My brother and Manhunt have been crucial in this process. We believe we have a party concept that is very solid, produced with a lot of love and read for Denver to enjoy.”
On hand for the launch will be DJ Tristan Jaxx and the MaverickMen themselves, Cole and Hunter.
Jaxx, a porn star by day and DJ by night – or is it the other way around? – can be found at Suite 703, Naked Sword and Hot House.
“I actually got my start in porn because I thought it would help me become a big DJ,” Jaxx said. “I knew I loved house music right after I heard my first CD when I was 17.”
Jaxx said he brings high energy house music and likes to incorporate all kinds of varied beats.
Another talent, he learned from staring in porn, is to be multi-talented.
“There is so much going on when you’re playing music,” he said. “People want to stop in and say ‘hi,’ photographers want to take your picture or just someone might have a question. I picked up on that skill quickly because in movies you’re constantly doing the deed while having to stop, pose, take a picture and go right back to the action like the breaks never happened.”
While Jaxx works the DJ booth, Cole and Hunter of XTube fame will be working the room.
“We are so excited to check Denver out,” Cole said. “We have only heard great things. We want to explore all things gay in Denver.”
Boosting an impressive 94 million views on XTube, MaverickMen launched their own website last year in conjunction with Manhunt.
While amateur porn has always been around, Hunter and Cole could be credited for rebooting and redefining it.
“We don’t just share our sex adventures, we share our lives,” Hunter said. “We get many messages from guys that admire our open and loving relationship. We hear from guys that aren’t able to live an open and proud life. The reality of our porn is what people seem to love the most.”
Doors open for PornStar Second Friday at 9 p.m. 21 and up only. Two-for-one cover and beer, well, call drinks before 10 p.m. $10 cover with $3 Heineken and 42Below Vodka after 10 p.m.
Five questions with DJ Tatiana
How did the PornStar Second Friday come to be?
I travel often to play in different places. In doing so, I get to experience new styles and fresh ideas that I enjoy implementing in Denver when I get chance to. In Europe and in cities like New York this concept of the porn star party has grown. We have observed this phenomenon and studied the market and adapted the concept to the Mile High City.
You’ve been throwing parties in Denver for more than a decade. How has the scene changed?
Our beautiful and colorful community has grown so much. We have gotten better at embracing each other regardless of the color of our skin and what part of the world we come from. We are getting better every day at concentrating less on our differences and looking at our similarities.
What do you believe is your role in the community and how do you execute it?
My role as a community member and a performer is to try to unite and to represent us to the best of my ability wherever I go with pride and infectious happiness.
A lot of people don’t know you’re one of the few people who help produce Dance World at PrideFest. What is you involvement and what can we expect in 2012?
I work closely with The GLBT Community Center and try to support them and give back as often as I can. I assist with the design, flow, format, marketing and booking the entertainment. My goal is to make the stage as diverse and community oriented as possible.
You’ve got some big hair, girl. How long does it take you to style it up?
The hairdo is definitely a work of art and I have to give credit to the people that make it happen: my brother Alejandro and Chi Chi from Three Little Birds Salon.
