Michael Hancock officially becomes Mayor today! Join in the celebration today, tonight and this weekend!

Today, Monday, July 18, Mayor-elect Michael Hancock becomes Mayor Michael Hancock and to celebrate there will be the inaugural ceremony, celebrations and all events are free and open to the public.

“This will be a great celebration for all of Denver,” Mayor-elect Michael Hancock said. “It will be a time when the whole city can come together to celebrate moving Denver forward and deliver a great city.”

The inaugural festivities started yesterday with an Interfaith Prayer Service at Macedonia Baptist Church. The service included representatives from Denver’s diverse religious communities.

The swearing in ceremony for newly elected and returning city officials will take place at the Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre in the Denver Performing Arts Complex beginning at 11 a.m today.The inaugural celebration will follow at the Denver Botanic Gardens beginning at 6 p.m. and will featuring local food and bands.

Inviting all of Denver to come together to celebrate and move Denver forward, following Inauguration Day, Hancock will take a tour of neighborhood parks.

On July 23, he will visit with communities throughout the city at several parks, including Berkeley Park, Harvey Park, Cook Memorial Park plus Central Park in Gaypleton Stapleton and ending with at picnic tour at Town Center.

6 p.m. – Denver Celebrates Tonight Concert at the Denver Botanic Gardens, 1007 York St. in Denver.

Saturday, July 23

Noon – DenverTogether Neighborhood Parks Tour picnic at Harvey Park, S. Tennyson St. and W. Evans Ave. in Denver.

1 p.m. – DenverTogether Neighborhood Parks Tour picnic at Cook Memorial Park, E. Florida Ave. and S. Monaco Pkwy. in Denver.

2 p.m. – DenverTogether Neighborhood Parks Tour picnic at Stapleton Central Park, Central Park Blvd. and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Denver.

3 p.m. – DenverTogether Neighborhood Parks Tour picnic at Town Center Park, N. Argonne Way and Andes Court in Denver.
