After much struggle, and an offer to see Mr. Trump’s genitals, Jenna Talackova will finally be allowed to compete in the Miss Universe Canada 2013 competition.
Talackova had been initially disqualified for being dishonest on the Miss Universe competition application – apparently she hadn’t included that she was raised as a male before transitioning.
What’s more interesting here is Trump’s candid responses to the situation every step of the way. First he refused to reverse the official’s decision and then refused to apologize after repealing the “naturally born” female rule. Then after a conference held by Gloria Allred (Jenna’s attorney) stating that she would be very impressed if she were to see his genitals. And lastly he concedes victory to the transgender community by concluding that he “couldn’t care less” if Talackova competed or not. So he did the right thing after public opinion turned towards Talackova’s favor.
